You Can Help Make A Difference!
Are you a cat lover who can’t get enough cat in your life? Do you wish you could spend more time with cats, but can’t adopt right now? Or are you looking for a fun and meaningful way to help the homeless cats in our community? Central Purrk Cat Café needs volunteers who will cuddle with our kitties, help maintain a clean and safe environment for our cats and our guests, while helping to ensure that everyone has the best possible experience at Central Purrk.
Responsibilities of our Cat Lounge volunteers include:

Must enjoy being around cats AND humans

Greeting guests as they arrive & familiarize them with the rules

Engaging with customers about the different cats to help facilitate positive interactions and adoptions

Proactively recognize and defuse any negative cat or human behaviors or interactions

Help socialize new cats to acclimate to the environment

Monitor health of cats and rapidly identify any health issues and report to Central Purrk staff

Monitor behavior of cats and rapidly identify any issues that may require special action and report to Central Purrk staff

Cleaning litter boxes, sweeping, and sanitizing cat areas routinely

Mopping of Cat Lounge at the beginning of each day

Wash cat food/water bowl dishes

Assisting Central Purrk staff with adoptions as needed
Requirements are:

Must have the ability to work with people of all ages (including children)

Commit to 2 Cat Lounge shifts per month

Must be at least 18 years of age*

Ability to lift litter boxes
All Central Purrk volunteers receive one free drink per shift (no alcohol), a Central Purrk Cat Café t-shirt of their choice, and free admission to our Cat Lounge during our regular business hours (space permitting, applies to the volunteer only – guests of the volunteer must pay our regular Cat Lounge entry fee). Volunteers also receive 10% off any Central Purrk merchandise.
Interested volunteers must complete the Volunteer Application below, attend an orientation session, and sign a general waiver, prior to the first volunteer session.
*Younger individuals may be considered based on animal shelter/volunteer experience.
