Front Desk/Cafe

​

Our Front Desk/Cafe staff must be able to serve wine and beer, and the age requirement to do so in Kentucky is 20.  

​

Our Front Desk/Cafe staff are the first people our guests will see.  You're the face of Central Purrk! Please note this position is exclusively in the café side -- you will not be handling or interacting with cats while you are working a café shift.

​

This is a part-time position working 15-20 hours per week, and pay will be commensurate with experience. An ability to work weekends is required.  Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

​

  • Greet customers as they enter

  • Check in customers for cat lounge reservations

  • Take reservations for walk-in customers

  • Take, ring up, and serve coffee/food orders

  • Answer general questions about the cat cafe

  • Keeping bar area stocked & clean

  • Maintaining retail space

  • Regularly daily cleaning of restrooms

Skills/Qualifications:

​

  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills

  • Previous coffee shop experience preferred, but not required

  • Retail experience a plus

  • Great customer service-should be comfortable and friendly with customers

  • Have a cool head on your shoulders - able to handle multiple customers during busy times

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to learn multiple apps (point of sale, reservations, etc.)

Cat Lounge Attendant

We are looking for energetic, cat loving people to help provide a memorable experience for our guests, care for our cats as if they were their own, and help play match maker so our cats find their PURRFECT furever home.

 

This is a part-time position working 15-20 hours per week, and pay will be commensurate with experience. An ability to work weekends is required. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Greeting customers and familiarizing them with the rules of the cat lounge

  • Engaging with customers about the different cats

  • General care of animals, including waste removal, feeding, and cleaning

  • Overall supervision of cat lounge

  • Various tasks as needed

  • Keeping the cat lounge and cat privacy room clean and tidy

  • Prior experience in customer service is a plus (people person, comfortable speaking with people about our adoptable cats)

Skills/Qualifications:

​

  • Must love cats! You recognize each cat and its individual personalities, likes, and dislikes

  • Previous experience caring for multiple cats (whether through volunteering in a shelter, fostering, owning a cat, etc.) is preferred

  • Excellent people & communication skills - should be comfortable engaging with customers

  • Proactive - Can spot negative cat or human interactions and can work to defuse them

  • Detail-oriented - You notice the little things and act on them

All of our cat lounge volunteers are current volunteers of either the Lexington Humane Society or Scott County Humane Society.  There is a required orientation and training class to work with shelter animals.
